Fifty years ago today (June 15) then-President Richard Nixon declared the “war on drugs." Today, Reps. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ) and Cori Bush (D-MO) filed a bill in Congress to finally end it. ...
President Obama’s official Presidential portrait has a leafy backdrop that allegedly contains marijuana leaves, according to a new right-wing conspiracy theory making the rounds on social media. Obama has admitted smoking pot back in the day as student and community organizer....
Former President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama took what could be considered the last act of their administration. They sat for official portraits destined for the National Portrait Gallery to hang next to portraits of Washington, Lincoln, Clinton and Bush. Reactions, so far, are… ah.. mixed. The portraits were unveiled at a ceremony this morning that drew former administration officials and a spattering of Hollywood types, including Steven Spielberg, wife, Kate Capshaw and Tom Hanks....
Stephen Colbert raised an interesting question about Donald Trump, during his monologue last night (Feb.1) about the president’s deepest pathological obsession. Why does he need to lie… about everything? Colbert was zeroing in Trump’s Tweets following the his first State of the Union Address....
Donald Trump’s clash with a Florida Congresswoman over his comments to the widow of a U.S. soldier could be a tipping point in his presidency, shredding what’s left of his credibility and exposing his gross politicization of the military and national symbols. Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla) caused the uproar when she said Trump was “disrespectful” to the widow of Sgt. La David Johnson, who was killed with three other soldiers in Niger....
Donald Trump was a hit in Phoenix… oh, wait, that was Alex Baldwin on “Saturday Night Live’s” summer show “Weekend Update.” It’s getting harder to tell the two apart as the president plunges further down the rabbit hole. Baldwin has honed his Trump impression into an art. Plus, the Donald is an unending source of material. ...
Michelle Williams and her long-time companion Busy Phillips, did little to mask their relationship on the Oscars red carpet, walking hand-in-hand and embracing for photographers. The open display of affection was obviously intended to send a message about openness and LGBT solidarity in the time of Trump....
Donald Trump is escalating his war on the media by ditching the 2017 White 2017 White House Correspondents’ Dinner. The president is usually roasted and gets to roast media members in return in a night of what usually amounts to good fun. But there is no joy in Trumpdom this year. ...
Jackie Evancho, the young singing phenom who wowed audiences on “America’s Got Talent,” has agreed to sing the National Anthem at Donald Trump’s inauguration. But is the singer, now 16, safe to be in the same room as the Groper in Chief. Trump was blasted during the election for a nasty, misogynistic 2005 conversation with entertainment personality Billy Bush....
Donald Trump, supposedly too busy to defend himself against civil fraud charges, still is finding time to wage a Twitter war against the cast of Broadway musical Hamilton. He fired off a series of new Tweets today (Nov. 20) ridiculing the performers. Trump is seething because the cast took a moment at the end of the show to address Vice-President-elect Mike Pence, who was sitting in the audience....
Donald Trump was sharply criticized by NAACP President Cornell William Brooks today (Sept. 21) for displaying “an insulting degree of ignorance and/or insensitivity” about African-Americans in his remarks during a North Carolina speech about inner city conditions. Trump, appearing before a predominantly white audience, said African-American communities are “absolutely in the worst shape that they’ve ever been in before…. ever, ever, ever.”...
Donald Trump continues to stumble on the campaign trail. In his latest gaff, he outraged African-Americans after calling their current living conditions the worst, “ever, ever, ever.” Critics noted he conveniently left out 200 years of U.S. slavery and Jim Crow laws. Trump is being increasing called out for lies, misstatements and gross exaggerations on the campaign trail. ...
Americans and others around the world honored the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks in New York City and Washington D.C. on the 15th anniversary of the tragic event. Malia Obama may have gotten high at the Lollapalooza Music Festival in Chicago. She was caught on video openly toking on what looked like a marijuana cigarette. She was apparently unaware she was being filmed or just didn’t care. The presidential first daughter, 18, just graduated from high school and is taking a year off before starting classes at Harvard University....
While the Republican Party stewed in its own fetid juices at the GOP National Convention, Michelle Obama was taking it to the streets, sort of. She was off on a lark in a special episode of James Cordon’s “Carpool Karaoke.” Rap pioneer Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott popped into the car to sing along and rap her big hit, “Get Ur Freak On.”...
Bernie Sanders, as expected, endorsed Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign today (July 12) at a political rally in New Hampshire. Clinton made the announcement in a fund raising appeal this morning just before the she appeared with Sanders at the rally....
Texas is reaping a whirlwind from the seeds it sowed leading to its free-wheeling gun culture. Five Dallas police officers were killed and six others injured last night by four “snipers” who were armed with assault rifles and wore military-style body armor. Last year, Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, a longtime gun rights advocate, signed a bill into law, enacting the loosest open carry law in the country. Buying an assault rifle in the Lone Star State is as easy as picking up a loaf of bread. Any owner is free to carry guns in public with an easy-to-obtain permit.

Scarlett Johansson is the latest Hollywood A-lister to speak out against Republican plans to stripped Planned Parenthood of its funding. Both main GOP rivals, Ted Cruz and Donald Trump would also criminalize abortions throughout the nation. Like everyone else, I have been curious about what’s going on inside the heads of members of the so-called “Patriot Movement,” that band of brothers who believe they know more about the Constitution than anyone else and are ready to defend their believe with an armed rebellion. It’s not just Muslim extremists they’re worried about slipping into the country and causing havoc....
Bill Cosby may be booted out of a rare club. An Arizona Congressman is attempting to strip him of his Medal of Freedom, awarded by President George W. Bush in 2002 for his exemplary contribution to television. Oddly, both bill co-sponsor Paul Gosar and Bush are Republicans....
Trevor Noah’s turn as Jon Stewart’s replacement on “The Daily Show” has been pretty uneventful–until last night. He took down right wing scoffers who criticized President Obama for tearing up over children and staffers slaughtered in Newtown, Conn. George H.W. Bush cried in 1999 recalling the moments leading up to the war in Iraq. Dwight D. Eisenhower cried in 1952 after a speech to the 82nd Airborne. George W. Bush cried during a Medal of Honor ceremony in 2007, Trevor noted. ...
President Obama’s skin tone was digitally altered in 2008 Republican campaign ads to make him appear darker, according to a new study. The ads were designed to appeal to voters’ racial prejudices and tie Obama closely to crime and radical activists. Even Hillary used the tactic, the study says. ...
Amy Schumer turns GQ magazine’s “Men of the Year” issue into an open invitation for Bradley Cooper to visit her through her back door and fantasizes about tossing back rare Scotch with President Obama at a jazz club in New Orleans.
