Sean Penn, the actor turned author, blew smoke on Late Night with Stephen Colbert–literally–last night. He smoked cigarettes during the interview, setting a fine example for young kids everywhere. Oh.. and he was high on Ambien (just a little) to boot. But, hey, he had some encouraging words for the kids from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., who organized the “March for Our Lives” protest in Washington D.C. and hundreds of other cities around the world....

Bob Simon, Veteran ’60 Minutes’ Reporter, Killed in NYC Car Crash

Bob Simon, the award winning journalist for CBS’s long-running program “60 Minutes,” was killed this evening (Feb. 11) in a car crash in New York City. The driver of his livery cab and the driver of the Mercedes it collided with were not seriously hurt. Simon, 73 was riding in the back of the livery cab, usually a full-size sedan, when the accident occurred. Rescue personnel had to cut the top off the car to extract the correspondent and his driver. He likely was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident....

Justin Bieber farted and a slew of web sites said it smell like roses. That’s an apt analogy for Bieber’s claim that he bought a high-priced Gulfstream G650 private jet for a Christmas present. But like Bieber’s farts, it stinks to high heaven. But that didn’t stop a slew of gossip sites from People magazine to ABC News, Fox News, GossipCop, TMZ and dozen of lesser sites from reporting it as fact. An TheImproper investigation, however, flushed that crap right out of the news cycle. This site reported two days ago that Bieber did not own a jet. We did what every other news site should have done–checked with Federal Aviation Administration....

But the network took an even more vindictive turn by banning her. Rihanna had taped an introductory performance for the game, but CBS decided at the last minute to cut it, because of the Ray Rice domestic violence incident. The network reportedly thought having Rihanna on the show did not set an “appropriate tone” because she, too, had been involved in an incident of domestic violence. ...

Justin Bieber and Rihanna took the stage with some of the most beautiful women in the world for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on CBS Tuesday (Dec. 4). Angel Alessandra Ambrosio was the featured model this year and opened the show with the brand’s “Million-Dollar Fantasy Bra.” The show was not without controversy. Victoria’s Secret apologized to Native Americans for one of its costumes, modeled after traditional Indian garb, according to the network. Model Karlie Kloss wore the ensemble made up of feathered headdress, turquoise jewelry and a fringed belt....
