Michael Keaton, fresh off his Oscar nominated performance in “Birdman” will host “Saturday Night Live” this weekend and is already cutting promos for the show. He’ll be joined by musical guest Carley Rae Jepsen, of one-hit wonder fame. Call Me, Maybe? Keaton was spectacular in the movie, which also starred Edward Norton and Emma Stone. But the actor is still trying to live down his Oscar faux pas....

Iñárritu film, won Best Picture at the 87th Academy Awards today (Feb. 23) and immediately sparked a backlash on social media by fans of “American Sniper,” including ugly racial remarks. The controversy also took on political overtones. Protesters were mostly conservative, pro-military types who were fanned by Fox News and Sean Hannity. Top Oscar nominees “The Grand Budapest Hotel” and “Birdman,” “Boyhood” at least four other Best Picture nominees share one thing in common. They are all fairly low budget indie movies. This year’s big-money pictures have been scorned,, again. The Oscars have never been about the money (supposedly), but about film artistry, craftsmanship and stellar acting. But in recent years it almost seems like the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which awards the Oscars, is trying to prove to the world that Hollywood really is too cool for school....
