Jon Stewart returns to a dark world on Comedy Central’s the Daily Show.

Jon Stewart was back in the anchor chair at Comedy Central after a summer-long stint for a Middle East film project. He needed a little cultural re-assimilation before catching up on the news, and learned, yes, Carlos Danger really is running for New York City Mayor.

John Oliver, who subbed for Stewart while he was off directing the Iranian political feature, “Rosewater,” had his hands full bringing Jon up to speed.

First, though, he had to ween Stewart, who had gone native, of his Middle Eastern mannerisms. But not even a defibrillator sandwiched between Big Macs could do the job. It was up to Stephen Colbert to bring his mentor back.

Wearing a bio-hazard suit, Colbert plunged into Stewart’s office. Moments later, the real Jon Stewart emerged ready for the worst. He quickly found out just how bad–or in comedy terms, how good–the summer had been.

Oliver revealed New York City Mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner, embroiled in a new sexting scandal, had an alter-ego, “Carlos Danger.” They both spontaneously started dancing every time they uttered the name. “I don’t know why I’m doing this,” Stewart exclaimed.

Political news is Stewart’s comedic fodder, but much of that has been pretty grim. The president is contemplating military action against Syria for allegedly using poison gas. How do you make a joke out of that?

Oh… Stewart found a way: “You can’t use chemicals to kill your own people. You have to do it organically,” he mocked, while also lambasting CNN and the parade of hard-right commentators who are calling for military action in Syria.

“Shut the fu*k up! Shut the fu*k up! Shut the fu*k up!” Stewart screamed. Check out the videos below and be sure to follow TheImproper for the latest television news.
