“It came true,” she exclaimed as she began her acceptance speech. It was a moving moment.

Hathaway, 30, thanked the Academy and named off her formidable competitors Sally Field in “Lincoln,” Helen Hunt in “The Sessions,” Jacki Weaver in “Silver Linings Playbook” and Amy Adams in “The Master.”
Hathaway seemed like a lock going into the awards after winning The Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, the British BAFTA award and a slew of regional awards for her role.
From the cast of the movie, she singled out Hugh Jackman, and reeled off a long list of names of those who contributed in some way to the movie. “Please say I said everyone. Josh Lieberman, again, just to be safe,” she giggled.
She had special words for her husband, actor Adam Shulman, whom she married last September in Big Sur, Calif. “By far and away the greatest moment of my life was the one when you walked into it. I love you so much,” she said.
She also had a special word about her character, Fantine, and women like her, who find themselves destitute and abused. “Here’s hoping that some day in the not too distant future, the misfortunes of Fantine will only be found in stories and not in real life.
Then, inexplicably, the orchestra played the theme from “The Godfather” as Hathaway walked off stage.
Earlier in the evening, she hit the red carpet in a pink Prada gown. Despite reports in the trashier tabloids, she did not suffer a wardrobe malfunction, or reveal “sideboob.”
