Reeva Steenkamp places her hand on her heart during her farewell speech.

Reeva Steenkamp had what was to be her first real shot at fame on a South African television show that has now turned into an eerie tribute to the fallen model. She was gunned down by Olympic star Oscar Pistorius on Valentine’s Day.

In one video clip, the 29-year-old South African model talks for a minute about her experience on reality show “Tropika Island of Treasure.”

She comes across as a sincere woman with a big heart and generous soul, who talks about falling in love with Jamaica, where the show was filmed. “You fall in love with being in love with love. Just one love everywhere,” she says.

She talked about making an exit from the show and how important it was for her to do it in a positive way. “You maintain dignity, you maintain class,” she explained in the scene, filmed last year. It shows her frolicking with dolphins.

Steenkamp was dating Pistorius, a world-renowned athlete because of his ability to compete at the Olympic level with both legs amputated below the knees from a childhood malady. He won the right to compete in the 2012 London Olympics using special carbon-fiber devices.

Olympian Oscar Pistorius Has History of Reckless Behavior

Pistorius fired four shots at Steenkamp through a bathroom door, striking her three times, including once in the head. He maintained afterward that he mistook her for a home intruder. But prosecutors have charged him with pre-mediated murder.

The charge suggests that he planned the attack. In the days since the incident, two sides of his personality has emerged. Friends say he’s a kind and generous man, but others, including authorities say he has a darker side, including an obsession with guns.

Home invasion robberies are frequent in South Africa which has one of the highest crime rates per capita in the world, second only to the drug ravaged nation of Colombia.

Steenkamp’s family supported the the South African Broadcasting Corp.’s decision to air the program featuring their deceased daughter as a tribute and because Reeva would have wanted it, according to reports out of the African nation.

Pistorius next appearance in court is Tuesday when his lawyers will seek to release him on bail. Prosecutors are opposing the move.

He and Steenkamp began dating last November while Pistorius was still involved with another woman. Police said there were previous incidents of domestic distrubances at his luxury home in a gated community.
