While “The Hunger Games,” world premiere unfolded in Los Angeles, fans got a glimpse of some behind the scenes action during filming of the science fiction action adventure in raw footage released by studio Lionsgate.

Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth star in the film, which opens nationwide Mar. 23.

They play teens fighting for survival in a government-controlled world that hosts annual televised games. Young participants are forced to kill their opponents, with only one surviving.

Making the film involved lots of choreographed action and the new clip shows Lawrence training with a bow and working on stunts for the movie.

Lionsgate, which bought Summit Studios, which created the “Twilight” franchise, are predicting even bigger things for “The Hunger Games.” Estimates for opening week ticket sales exceed $100 million, according to some estimates.

The films are targeting the same young teen and adult market. Behind all the action, the movie is a love story just like “Twilight.” A female heroine is torn between two males.

Katniss’ two suitors, Peeta and Gale, already have their own fan clubs just like Team Edward and Team Jacob in the “Twilight” series.

About 400 fans lined the black carpet waiting for the film’s stars to arrive at yesterday’s (Feb. 12) premiere, according to the AP
