The Avengers don’t play nice togther, but play they must to save the world. A new extended trailer shows the team, which includes, Iron Man, the Hulk, Captain America, Thor and other superheroes fighting each other as much as the enemy.
All is not well on earth. “War has started, and we are hopelessly outgunned,” says Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson.
If some of the clip seems familiar, that’s because parts of it debut in a shorter tease during Super Bowl weekend. But some new footage of the superheroes in action has been added, plus a glimpse of Loki’s invaders.
The opening scene has a familiar action-adventure sequence. People running like mad to save their lives! Destruction is just a step behind them while debris rain from the sky. Nick is given the task of rounding up the team.
Captain America (Chris Evans) is working out on the heavy bag and sends it flying across the room with his super strength. Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff, aka The Black Widow, does her best to recruit The Hulk, played by Mark Ruffalo.
Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, also has an attitude. “I thought I didn’t qualify. Apparently, I’m what is it? Volatile? Self-obsessed and don’t play well with others.” He’s got that right.
In the next scene, he’s fighting it out with Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Capt. America on a mountain hilltop. The movie’s special effects are on display and they look top-notch. The Hulk destroys a building to save Iron Man. Cool stuff.
“The Avengers,” directed by Joss Whedon, opens in theaters on May 4. Check out the clip below:
