Demi Lovato was set to hit the road this week for an upcoming show in Atlantic City, but the trip may be sidelined after the singer suffered what’s being described as a heroin overdose at her Hollywood Hills home.
If true, and law enforcement sources appear to be at least partially confirming it, then it’s a sad turn in her career that has been marked by meltdowns, recovery and now another meltdown.
Demi last performed on Sunday at the 2018 California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles, Calif., according to media reports.

She clearly appeared to be under the influence. At one point, she appeared to forget the words to her song “Sober.” (See the video below.)
She released a single, “Sober,” last month that suggested pretty clearly she was no longer sober.
“Mama, I’m so sorry I’m not sober anymore
And Daddy, please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor
To the ones who never left me
We’ve been down this road before
I’m so sorry, I’m not sober anymore.”
It an upsetting turn, Demi revealed last month she had fallen off the wagon after staying sober for six years.

The Disney sweetheart had a sterling reputation until she suffered a 2010 meltdown during a South American Tour with the Jonas Brothers. In an uncontrolled screaming fit, she slugged dancer Alex “Shorty” Welch, leaving her with a black eye and bruises.
At the root of her problems were self-esteem and anger management issues and an obsessive pre-occupation with her body that included bouts of anorexia and bulimia.
Lovato went straight to rehab. When she emerged four months later, she revealed, for the first time, that she suffered from a bi-polar disorder and vowed to quit abusing all substances.
Afterward, she was determined to be a role model for other young women who suffered from serious body issues and other insecurities.

But all that came apart today (July 24) when the 25-year-old singer was reportedly taken to the hospital.
Police confirmed that paramedics responded to an emergency call at her house and had administered Narcon, a drug used to counter the effects of opioids, to the singer.
Although only rumored at the time of her 2010 breakdown, Lovato revealed in her documentary “Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated” that she was using cocaine as well.
“I was sneaking it in bathrooms, sneaking it throughout the night… I went on a bender of like, two months where I was using daily,” she said.
Her next step is unclear, but she clearly needs to get counseling and stay away from bad influences.
Nobody should be drinking or doing drugs around her.
