Donald Trump was a hit in Phoenix… oh, wait, that was Alex Baldwin on “Saturday Night Live’s” summer show “Weekend Update.” It’s getting harder to tell the two apart as the president plunges further down the rabbit hole.
Baldwin has honed his Trump impression into an art. Plus, the Donald is an unending source of material.
The president is growing more absurd by day. Nowhere is that more evident than his “campaign” rallies. He tends to speak off the cuff and go off the rails.
The President was in rare form giving a divisive speech that dug the nation’s cultural divide even deeper.
He pandered to the mostly white audience, told half-truths and outright lies, demonized the media, attacked GOP party leaders, and threatened to shut down the government if Congress refuses to pay for his wall.
His only black supporter in the audience, standing directly behind him of course, turned out to be a man who once belonged to a violent black supremacist religious cult,
At various times, he’s called Barack Obama “The Beast” and Hillary Clinton a Ku Klux Klan member. Oprah Winfrey, he says, is the devil.
On Baldwin’s Weekend Update cold open, SNL’s Kenan Thompson played him hilariously.
Baldwin riffed on Trump’s new non-policy initiative in Afghanistan, his firing of Steve Bannon, aka the Grim Reaper and son-in-law Jared Kushner.
