But it’s one thing to complain when embarrassing photos are hacked from an iPhone or email account.
It’s another to prance around in public and then complain when a paparazzi takes your photo–legally.
Tomlinson should know by now that he is a public figure and should take precautions, if he plans to act in a way that he doesn’t want to read about in a tabloid.
Instead, he blames the the lack of legal restrictions on photographers. “The privacy laws are f*cked up,” he tweeted in reaction to the publication of the photos on gossip site TMZ.
So far, Campbell may be the wiser. She has yet to comment.
The photos show Tomlinson and girlfriend Campbell sitting on a ground-level balcony at a Mexican resort, facing a beach open to the public.
Both are initially wearing bathing suits. But at one point, a shirtless Tomlinson walks over to Campbell, unties her bikini top and pulls it off, exposing her breasts.
The gossip site provided a bit of modesty by inking out Campbell’s nipples with tiny black boxes. But they certainly were under no obligation to do that. Other sites showed the photos uncensored.
The whole episode touched of a blizzard of comments on social media from the boy bander’s fans. Most have blasted TMZ and the photographer.
It’s far from the first time celebrities, including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been caught sunbathing naked in public. But that’s the whole point; they are in public.
If Campbell and Tomlinson want to romp around naked on a beach, there are plenty of places they can go that ban photographers.
But they shouldn’t blame their stupidity on the law or the acts of others, who are just doing their jobs.
