The parting appeared to be amicable according to statements released by each on their respective Facebook page and Web site.

“After nearly three years together, Tiger and I have mutually decided to end our relationship,” Vonn wrote on her page.
Woods echoed a similar sentiment on his blog published on his Web site.
“Lindsey and I have mutually decided to stop dating. I have great admiration, respect and love for Lindsey and I’ll always cherish our time together,” he wrote in a “personal note.”

The golfer and skier began dating in 2012. By then, Woods’ marriage to Elin Nordegren, the mother of his two children had ended in divorce, and he’d weathered an 18-month sex scandal.

More than two dozen women came forward–mostly cocktail waitresses, party girls and a porn star or two. They claimed they had sexual relationships with Woods during his marriage.
At the time he, was one of the most highly regarded golfers in history with a slew of multi-million dollar endorsement deals. Many of his sponsors dropped him as a result.
Wood took time off from the tour and to work on his sex addiction. He eventually returned to golf, but Vonn more than anyone re-established normalcy in his life and helped restore his image.

Vonn was on the rebound herself. At the time, her marriage to fellow skier Thomas Vonn has just fallen apart.
Both athletes appeared at each other’s sporting events and Vonn developed a relationship with Woods’ children. She appeared with the kids at the Masters Tournament, which was Woods’ first match following an injury.
The split was presaged after Vonn appeared on the red carpet solo at the Time 100 Gala.
Oddly the split comes as both athletes are in the twilight of their careers.
