Bobbi Kristina, 21, is now being treated at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, which is considered a top-flight facility for neurological disorders.
While the reality television personality and would-be singer is still in a medically induced coma and on a respirator, doctors were able to detect eye movement. She also opened and closed her eyes on her own.
Both signs are positive indicators of brain activity and suggest that Bobbi’s chances of pulling out of the coma are improving.
IM reported on the seriousness of her condition last Saturday (Jan. 31). Other media outlets confirmed our story a day or two later.
We were also the first to report on Sunday (Feb. 1) that reason for optimism existed because of Bobbi’s age.
The brain has a better chance to rebound from traumatic injury in young people. There are recent cases of near drowning victims around her age who have fully recovered.
But the good news is tempered somewhat by bickering and threats involving Bobbi Kristina’s immediate family.
Whitney’s ex-husband and Bobbi’s father, Bobby Brown, dropped a bombshell yesterday (Feb. 3) when he revealed that his daughter and step-son Gordon were never legally married. The revelation is contrary to the couple’s claims that they married last year.
Now, the Houston and Brown family members are reportedly squabbling over who is allowed to be at Bobbi Kristina’s bedside while she is receiving treatment.
In another new twist, Marion “Pat” Houston, who is married to Whitney’s brother Gary told London’s Daily Mail that Gordon is trying to make a grab for a greater share of Whitney’s estate, which is said to be in range of $12 millions of dollars.
Bobbi gets full access to the money when she turns 35, according to reports.
Pat Houston and Gordon clashed in March last year and she filed a police report accusing him of making “terrorist threats” against her.
Pat is executor of a trust fund established by Whitney to care for her daughter. Gordon reportedly went ballistic when Houston refused to bump up Bobbi Kristina’s allowance from the trust.
Houston obtained a restraining order against him last April. It prevents Gordon and Houston family members from being at Bobbi’s bedside at the same time.
