Supermodels like Chrissy Teigen are known for offbeat beauty regimens, but she had everyone guessing after she posted a video of herself wrapped only in a towel pouring milk all over her hot body.

Was it a nervous breakdown? A new therapy?

Not quite. Teigen, 29, had a far different problem.

As she explained on Twitter: “Just took a shower after cleaning those jalapeños and it truly was the biggest mistake of my life, like I don’t think I can have kids now,” she said in mock horror.

“It’s like I took a bath in jalapeños. Does the ER have a punch card this week??” she added.

Chrissy had an inadvertent encounter with a chemical compound called capsaicin. It’s found in all hot peppers. It gives them their kick.

The substance is so powerful a single drop combined with 100,000 parts water is still noticeably spicy, according to medical references.

Teigen apparently had capsaicin on her hands. The shower opened the pores on her skin and she must have rubbed it in. As she found out the hard way, it causes a burning or stinging pain.

And yes, it hurts. “I feel like I’m covered in paper cuts and a demon is pouring lime juice all over me,” she wrote on Twitter.

When fans saw the message, the responded with a home remedy… milk.

“I don’t have that much milk, guys. No one has that much milk,” she wrote back.

She found a half-gallon carton in the fridge and that led to the video.

“You guys saved my life,” she wrote afterward.

But here’s a tip from medical references. Milk is only effective to soothe a burning stomach. Any cool substance would have worked on her skin.

The best treatment is to wash the area with soap and water and then put a large amount of vegetable oil on the area for at least an hour. If the burn sensation is on your hands, dip your hands in vegetable oil for the hour, according to WebMD.
