Brown, 25, got the bad news today (Jan. 15) in a probation hearing before Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin.
The judge said he was troubled by several issues contained in Brown’s latest probation report. Chief among them, is a night club shooting Jan. 11 in San Jose, Calif., during a Brown performance.
Brown did not seek permission from the court to travel outside Los Angeles County as required by his probation and failed to complete his community service on time, according to gossip site TMZ.
Celebrity lawyer Mark Geragos, who is representing Brown, took responsibility for incorrectly advising Brown that he did not need court permission to go to San Jose.
Brandlin also expressed concern about the culture of violence surrounding the rapper. During his San Jose show, five people were shot while he was on stage. Four were inside the building and one was outside.
During a separate performance at the nightclub 10AK during the MTV Video Music Awards in August, several people were shot outside the club, including including rap impresario Suge Knight.
No evidence exists that Brown was involved in the shootings, but his presence at the scene is being construed as a probation violation because of his close association with criminal elements.
Although Judge Brandlin revoked Brown’s probation, he allowed the rapper to remain free until a March 20 hearing.
The San Jose club where the shooting took place has been hit with a 60-day suspension because of security breaches contributed to the shootings, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
