Duttch beauty Doutzen Kroes stares seductively through her glass bedroom window at Charlie Hunnam across the street. Look familiar?
As the saying goes, there’s nothing new under the sun. Advertising, like art, often falls into that trap.
The clothing brand is known for it’s over-the-top advertising, going back to Brook Shield’s controversial ads in the 1990s. You may recall: “Nothing Comes Between Me and My Calvins.”
But there’s nothing original about this ad.
Hilton filmed her ad four years ago for Brazilian beer company Devassa. It was so hot, the Brazilian government banned it from the airwaves.
The ad features Hilton seductively rubbing a can of beer all over herself in an glass-paneled office building. A hunky man with a camera watches her from a similar building across the street.
In the Calvin Klein ad, Hunnam is in one building and Kroes is in the other, dressed (coincidentally?) in a similar black dress.
She walks seductively across her bedroom in full view of Hunnam. He finally ends up in her arms.
The ad introduces Reveal, Calvin Klein’s new women’s fragrance. It was directed by Jonas Akerlund.
