Emma Watson was going for a look tonight (Mar. 26) at the New York City premiere of her new movie, “Noah.” But what kind of look… Mary Todd Lincoln? It was a rare fashion fail for the young starlet.

Watson, 23, has been on the road for a couple of weeks promoting the movie. Maybe she ran out of clothes and had to borrow a cast-off from the “Harry Potter” prop room.

Or maybe she just wanted to look older, like a century older. Whatever, the case the dress was monstrous. She’s in a movie about a boat, but she looked like she just got off the boat.

According to reports, the gown was designed by Oscar de la Renta and made out of literally yards of Duchess black satin.

The only redeeming quality was the plunging vee-line down the back of the dress. Maybe Emma should have worn it backwards.

Watson didn’t help herself by wearing her hair pulled back in a stern bob that only accentuated her matronly look. A splash of red lipstick just didn’t have enough wattage to illuminate the look.

She should fire the stylist who suggested Oscar de la Renta in the first place. Sure, he’s a fashion icon and known for dressing stars. But they’re all from the 1960s!

At 81, he’s not only old enough to be her grandfather, he’s also old enough to be her great-grandfather. Who wants their great-grandfather dressing them?

Watson is obviously still trying to develop her own fashion style.

Maybe she should take a few pointers from Kristen Stewart, who has graduated from jeans and sneakers to Balenciaga and Dior.
